Two women. Carly & Tabitha. Both have suffered life-altering events that have left them both traumatically damaged.
Carly Sloan’s life was perfect until the night her security and innocence was torn from her. The vast repercussions from that horrific night threaten to destroy her stability and her chances for a happily ever after. Kyle Finnegan comes into Carly’s life at the height of her turmoil. Can he help her find what she desires most?
Tabitha Fletcher, on the other hand, has suffered from a very young age. She has been hiding from her past, which was full of abuse, loss and turmoil. She has been so brutally damaged that she has very little hope of redemption. The revolving door of men only leads her deeper into misery.
What circumstance brings these two women together unexpectedly and can they help each other heal? And will they each find what they need?
**This book is not suitable for young readers. It is intended for mature adults only (18+). It contains strong language, adult/sexual situations, non-consensual sex and some violence**

This is the story of two broken women who assume they can't be fixed. Both are from different backgrounds and both have skeletons in their closets. But this is also the story of how those women fought for better and gave their all to be fixed - they are beautiful, strong and courageous, it's just that they don't realise it!
This story is about their trials and tribulations as they strive to reach the unreachable and how they pursue a happy ending regardless of what stands in their way. Will anyone find happiness or is it just a pipe dream?

Carly and Kyle are waiting for Emily to be born and would give their all for that little girl. This story tells of their past and present day lives, how they fought to be happy together and to be good parents to Emily.
Tabitha's story is told in past and present too. In the present, she is waiting for Emily to be born because she can't wait to give this little girl a better life. She doesn't know how to provide the kind of life she feels Emily deserves.
Both Carly and Emily are from opposite backgrounds and have had two completely different lives, but both have one goal in common, to put their abusive pasts behind them. Both women have suffered at the hands of men in different ways.
As a woman from a past of abuse in different ways, at different stages and by various men in my life, I can totally empathise with both Carly and Tabitha. I must admit in the beginning, I felt more for Carly. She went through so much and I knew less about Tabitha's past, but as I learned more about her, I came to understand and empathise with Tabby too. They both felt so broken and so unlovable. They were used to men using them and no woman should ever have to 'get used to' men hurting them in such ways. But as the story progressed, I saw what beautiful, strong women they were. They dealt with their haunting pasts in different ways and neither one realised how strong she was. They stood up for themselves and did what was right for them. As someone who has been through similar, I know what it is like to stay silent, too many women put up with abusive spouses, relatives, etc. We need more women to stand up and break the silence - break the cycle of abuse! It's true, there is a stigma attached to being 'abused' - you feel no-one can ever love you, you stay silent because you become conditioned to accept it as normal - let me tell you now, it is NOT and NEVER will be 'normal' - Trudy herself in the back of the book urges women to come forward and speak up if they have suffered abuse. Your voice WILL be heard!
Trudy's writing style suggested to me that she may have suffered something in her past, be it herself or someone she knows - she had such a grasp of how each woman would be feeling, it spoke to me and drew me in.
To some people, this will just be a story that is told well and tugs at their emotions. But for me, this was something that rang absolutely true and it played havoc with my heart.
I'll share my 3 Goodreads statuses with you:
At 61%:
"I am snotting and crying and am a complete emotional wreck. She did not deserve that, no woman does. What an awful thing to happen. It's happened to me (though not as much damage) and I can identify with Carly completely."

At 76%:
"I'm not ready for this book to end. I like Tabitha and feel very sorry for her but I am actually very in awe of Carly. She's such a wonderful person. Who knew she was so strong?!"

And 100%:
"Oh my goodness I am sobbing again! This is a story of two broken women, hoping beyond all else that they can be fixed. But they are both stronger than they believe. Truly courageous women. Survivors. This story is amazing."

So as you can see, I thoroughly enjoyed this book even though it was about a topic so close to home. I can't wait for Tabitha's story in 2014.
Thank you Trudy for giving me the chance to read such an amazing book - I look forward to my signed copy!
